Lovely Day
I have a wonderful gift from the Holy Spirit. I now realize how precious it is. Thank you Lord. When I wake up in the morning I receive a word, a lyric, a verse or dream from Him. I’ve been writing them down for years. I wanted to try something new and share it today. For two reasons, first it was unique and second it’s just a beautiful reminder of God’s love. Today was a song. It was as clear as could be in my mind. Usually the songs are Christian not secular, but today was a secular song that I’m not really familiar with. I had to look it up. It’s called “Lovely Day” and was released in 1977. I know I’ve heard it in a movie or in a store background. The point is the lyrics are joyful and relate to my new mornings. The post chorus that was playing in my mind simply says “lovely day,” but in the song it’s repeated seventeen times in a row! What a sweet uplifting gift to hear these words. In Philippians 4:8, God gives us a list of eight good things and He says to “think about these things” and one of them is “whatever is lovely.”
It’s Saturday morning, I just woke. When I look only at my day I quickly remember that I have a huge list of to-do’s today. More laundry for our family of five then you can imagine, bills, cleaning, meat that’s expiring, tile showers (if you have them you know the torture), boys schoolwork, butterfly chrysalises to help my son move to their cage and much, much more! Yet, I have a new excitement that’s first in my heart right now - time with my heavenly Father. Oh yes, a sort of romance is underway in my heart and time with him in the morning is a new pleasure. So right now, yes, right now I’m going to stop writing and go pray, listen and read the bible with Him for a while.
Intimacy with God is the most lovely thing in our life.
I prayed. I read the Bible. I looked at God and not my day. What joy that I get to carry with me now. I hope you too will look to God upon waking and confidently know that, as the song goes, “it’s gonna be a lovely day…lovely day, lovely day, lovely day…”
